# XCEED: Blockchain Platform for Vehicle Certification

> XCEED is a blockchain-based solution for decentralized certification and compliance management in the automotive industry, developed by European OEMs like Renault and suppliers like Faurecia. The platform solves the problem of fragmented and inefficient vehicle certification processes through secure, transparent data exchange between all supply chain participants. After successful testing, XCEED was deployed to production sites in Bursa, Douai and Palencia from April 2021 and is now available worldwide to OEMs and suppliers.

## Description

Blockchain-based vehicle certification addresses a fundamental trust issue in the used car market: mileage manipulation, undisclosed accident damage, and forged maintenance histories cost buyers billions annually.

Blockchain vehicle certification works through seamless logging: every event in the vehicle's life is anchored on the blockchain — first registration, every maintenance, every MOT, every accident report to insurance, every mileage reading during workshop visits. Buyers scan the vehicle ID and see the complete, immutable history. Renault used a blockchain-based vehicle file in cooperation with the French Ministry. VeChain also developed MyStory solutions for automotive. BMW PartChain tracks cobalt from the mine to the vehicle (supply chain compliance). CARFAX and similar services use central databases — blockchain-based alternatives are tamper-proof and decentralised. EU regulation: The EU is examining blockchain-based digital vehicle certificates as part of vehicle safety digitalisation.
