TimberChain

Sector: Secondary sector · Industry: Furniture manufacturing · Organisation: Kooperation zwischen Schörghuber Spezialtüren und FH Südwestfalen · Maturity level: Pilot

TimberChain is a blockchain platform built specifically for the timber and furniture industry, enabling end-to-end traceability of wood from forest to finished product. The TIMBER2026 whitepaper describes the platform as an EUDR-compliant solution: geolocation data, harvest dates and certifications are documented on-chain and can be used for due-diligence reporting.

Documentation status

Description

TimberChain is a blockchain platform for the timber industry that documents the complete supply chain of wood—from certified forest to finished product—on the blockchain. The TIMBER2026 whitepaper positions the platform as an EUDR-compliant solution for timber trade and furniture manufacturing.

The timber and furniture industry faces a major challenge: the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), with a compliance deadline of 30 December 2026, requires all companies selling timber products in the EU to provide seamless proof that the wood does not come from areas deforested after 31 December 2020. TimberChain solves this with a blockchain-based marketplace: certified forestry operations and traders list their products on the platform; every transaction is blockchain-documented with geolocation coordinates of the harvest site, harvest date, wood type, and certification status. How it works: the forestry operation registers a batch — the trader buys and transfers ownership rights on-chain — the processor receives the complete documentation chain. The furniture industry benefits especially: furniture retailers selling solid wood products can prove the complete origin chain of each piece via QR code.

Perspectives

B2B — organisations perspective

Furniture retailers and wood processors can document timber origin certificates compliant with the EUDR for their entire product range seamlessly via TimberChain and provide them immediately upon request by authorities.

B2C — consumers perspective

Buyers of wooden furniture can instantly check via QR code where the wood comes from, when it was harvested, and whether it originates from verifiably deforestation-free sources.
